WHAT:

[ Team ❤️ ( Jill, Ciaccona, Megumi, Monika ) & Team ♦️ ( Lyney, Mydei, Kaveh, Ratio ) & Team ♣️ ( Diluc, Jing Yuan, Lahabrea, Vil ) will all come to in a claustrophobic coffin six feet underground in the field that all of this craziness started in. you're still suffering from the hallucinations, paranoia, & honesty! which should definitely be a good time for somebody trapped in a wooden box. as for the necrosis, well, that seems to have taken care of itself... but once you're able to move and inspect yourself some more you'll find that you've got shrapnel from the collapsing bunker lodged in you. nothing fatal, but it's definitely painful and very likely bleeding. it can *only* be removed *with help*. you can't remove the pieces on your own. ]

[ Team ♠️ ( Brant, Aventurine, Castorice, Jayce ) & EVERYBODY ELSE will get a text message once the game ends with the coordinates of the woods that your friends are currently buried in. a follow-up simply says bring a shovel. this is probably confusing to those who didn't participate, but they'll find out what's what soon enough. ]

[ He picks up the pace, only to have his foot catch on an uprooted part of a tree and faceplants into the ground. ]

Wah--!

Diluc!

[ Hearing the noise of Kaeya falling and his voice call out, Diluc does stop. Turning around to run back to Kaeya, kneeling down next to him and trying to help Kaeya get up. ] Kaeya, are you okay?

[ It's probably endearingly funny to others--and probably Kaeya himself--how quickly Diluc can go from a raging fire to concerned embers when it comes to Kaeya. ]

[ Turns his head and just lays there a moment. ]

...I'm fine. The only thing that's wounded is my pride.

[ That's extremely embarrassing. He sits up and rubs his cheek, which appears to be unscathed, thankfully. ]

[ Diluc reaches out and brushes some of the dirt off of Kaeya's face, gaze lingering to make sure he really is fine. Since he is, however... ] I imagine so, a root? What happened to your fancy footwork?

[ Closes his eyes as Diluc touches his face, then leans back and shrugs. ]

What can I say? Your backside is just too captivating. I wasn't looking where I was going as a result.

Hmm. [ He rolls his eyes. ] Sure.

You cut a very flattering silhouette. Can you blame me?

[ Pay no attention to the silly little scratches on his palms as he shrugs. ]

[ Taking one of Kaeya's palms to kiss, Diluc murmurs against his hand. ] Come on, I won't destroy the candle.

[ He starts to pull Kaeya's up to his feet, not letting go of his hand. ]

[ He feels his heart clench a little at that, but he doesn't let it show on his face. ]

...Right.

[ Allows himself to be hauled to his feet, keeping his hand right where it is in Diluc's. ]

You know I meant no ill will when I made the thing, right? It really was meant to be something to laugh over since this place is, well... the way it is. You know.

[ Turning his head to look at Kaeya as they walk towards their home together, Diluc smiles. ] I know. And it's not ill will, I'm simply... prudish when it comes to something like that. [ The least he can do is admit to it, seeing as Kaeya fell face first. Speaking of. ]

Well, now that I know you're not hurt, it is a bit funny you tripped.

[ He's still holding Diluc's hand, but his other is propped up on his hip and he's pouting again. ]

...Well, I'm glad my momentary embarrassment could get a rise out of you.

Mmmm. Turnabout is fair play.

Well, if you'll recall I never laughed at you. I've only ever shown utmost concern and care.

Why, without me you'd probably still be six feet under.

You most certainly have laughed at my embarrassment before.

[ ... Hmm. Diluc does not want to think about that. ]

Not when you were hurt.

[ He says that in a softer tone. ]

Though for you it's a daily occurrence lately. If I don't laugh I might just cry.

[ Rarely does he ever cry. ]

[ Diluc had only joked about it because Kaeya had said he was fine. Trying to lighten the mood after the somber turn it took. Really he should leave any of the jesting to Kaeya, he always says the wrong thing. ] Right. My apologies.

[ He winces at that. ] I did try my best, to not come out worse this time. [ Failed, again, though. Not unsurprising. ~~Why would he expect anything different from himself. He's always going to let those he cares for down in one way or another.~~ 'You should be more careful with Kaeya's feelings, young master Diluc,' he thinks back to a memory of Adelinde saying, when they were children and Kaeya and Diluc had a fight, 'he hides it well but he's not made of stone.'

"You so stubborn, Master Diluc, even still you struggle with the lessons I taught you" a facsimile of Adelinde says, standing dutifully by the doorway of their apartment, "After all of the accomodations I make for you: patching your wounds, keeping your secrets, on top of my other duties as the head maid. You can't even keep yourself from hurting my sweet and loyal Kaeya." She shakes her head, bowing as they get closer, "At least one of the boys I raised doesn't disappoint me so."

It's a small mercy he had already been frowning, lest Kaeya worry more. Diluc knows she's not here, this is in his head. Not untrue, but not real. His features remain schooled, blank as he opens the door to their apartment, Adelinde trailing in behind them. ]

...

[ Reaches over and flicks his head. ]

Stop it. If you keep beating yourself up for things out of your control you'll drive yourself mad. I'm less upset with you and more... concerned for you. The way they keep toying with you like this.

It isn't good for your head.

[ With the things he's personally been subjected to it's a little easier for him, but Diluc? He can't keep his emotions in check in the same way Kaeya can. ]

[ He swats at Kaeya's hand, pouting as he shuts the door to their apartment. ]

Flicking me there isn't good for my head either. [ He's joking.

"Being concerned for you is an ordeal though, isn't it? What did he say before? You'll drive him to tears? Drive him mad?" Adelinde murmurs, dusting the TV in the living room, "He takes care of you so well and that's how you repay him. Even when he was hurt and out of his mind he still needed to take glass and debris out of you."

Diluc moves towards the couch, having put a small medical kit under the side table for when they come back from games. ]

I can take the rest of the shrapnel out, if you'd like to take a shower or rest, digging up a grave isn't a simple task.

Maybe with enough head injuries your brain will correct itself.

[ Chuckling, he follows Diluc inside of the apartment all the way to the table and kneels beside him, placing his hand over Diluc's on the first aid kit. ]

I can wait, I'd rather look after you in case those hallucinations rear their ugly head again.

That's not how that works.

[ Looking at Kaeya's hand before meeting his eyes, Diluc cups Kaeya's face. ] Thank you but I promise I can tell what's real and what's not. [ He sighs. ] 'Adelinde' is here but I know she's not actually. [ What's she says is true, though. ] The trouble comes when everything starts to turn to flesh and blood and I can simply close my eyes and stay still for that, now that we're back home.

What if the hallucinations that look like me? And they start to put their hands on you and you oblige thinking it really is me? Hmm... would that be considered cheating?

[ Well... he wasn't worried about that until now. ]

That wouldn't really fit the trend with how those specific hallucinations are acting. [ Granted, anything his paranoid mind could come up with for a fake Kaeya to say ~~true as it may be~~ would be just as bad if not worse than what the unreal Adelinde has been saying.

In fact, "Adelinde" seems to be considering the idea Kaeya brought forth with a tilt of her head in his direction. ]

But... maybe you have a point.

...Yes, I do have a point. Now, let me take care of those wounds.

[ The hallucination shifts to Kaeya's form--because of course it does--but thankfully stays by the television. For now. ]

Why did you have to give it ideas? [ Leaning down, Diluc whispers this to Kaeya. Really, there's no point in stating quiet, whatever Diluc hears the hallucination will hear. It's his head afterall. ]

...Technically it's your brain coming up with these things so it's really just a matter of me giving you ideas rather than 'it.'

[ He stands up and goes over to the overhead lightswitch and turns it off, then moves over to turn one of the lamps on. He also starts moving furniture around and tossing random knick-knacks around the house into a box and kicking them into the corner. Basically creating a very sterile and blank environment. ]

Giving it some thought, it's actually probably best to create a calm environment with as little room for adjustments or change as possible so the hallucinations have less to 'play with' so to speak.

So... I'll turn off some of these lights, and... create some white noise...

[ He quickly bolts across the room and into the kitchen, turning the water on and leaving it running. After all of that he returns to Diluc's side. ]

Here, take off your coat, we should probably remove the shrapnel first before having you wash up. Probably for the best we don't completely submerge you, anyway.
